If you’re arriving in Purwokerto by train and just need a clean place to crash without paying too much, this is a solid pick. RedDoorz at Syariah House is super close to the station — just a few minutes in a car — and offers simple but decent rooms at very low prices.
We stayed in a family room with one big double bed and a single bed, and it fit the four of us (me, my husband, and our 4‑year‑old and 1‑year‑old) just fine. Nothing fancy, but it had everything we needed: air conditioning, a hot shower, a seated toilet, a TV with local channels, and fast Wi-Fi. Don’t expect toilet paper or a bin in the bathroom, though — bring your own.
Calm and clean, even if basic
What I appreciated most was how clean and quiet it was. Our room was right next to the front entrance, and we still slept like babies. That’s rare in budget places. And since it’s a shariah guesthouse, they only accept married couples — which adds to the calm and respectful vibe.

The location is another big plus — it’s very close to the train station, which makes it easy to reach even if you’re arriving late or leaving early. There’s a small terrace, and you can park a motorbike, though there’s no space for cars. The place is located in a narrow alley that basically fits just one car, so we tried to be as quick as possible getting in and out — even though there was no traffic at the time.
No breakfast? No problem
Breakfast isn’t included, but thanks to its central location, there’s plenty of food around. In the evening, we walked to nearby food stalls, and when it started raining, we just ordered through GoFood. Grab works well here too, so your options are basically unlimited.
The reception staff were kind and welcoming. We even got bottled water when we checked in — though there’s no place to refill it.
Final thoughts
We were honestly very happy with our stay. It’s probably one of the cheapest places in Purwokerto that still manages to feel clean, safe, and well run. The kind of place where you save on accommodation — and use the extra money for better food or fun experiences.
To be honest, I didn’t even take many photos — I wasn’t expecting much, and the kids were exhausted. But now I kind of wish I had.
